Your wedding is such an important day, that it is important to have a schedule for your big day. It can be as detailed as you like; however, the importance of the schedule is so that everyone knows where they are and where they have to be for important aspects of the wedding. Just remember, are you 6 months or more from your wedding, then it is okay to not have a specific schedule completed.
IMPORTANT schedule considerations: ceremony & reception time, Photoshoot requirements, Hair & Make UP, & "bumper time"
After deciding your ceremony time, you need to decide if you are having a cocktail hour, when you getting your pictures taken, etc. As you are planning this stuff, I always remind clients to consult me or their hired photographer to see how long they will need to get all of their pictures taken; to consult their hair and makeup artist (s) to see how long getting ready will take.
MY BEST TIP- "BUMPER TIME"
Always add an extra 15 minutes to every part of your day, this way if you’re getting ready, first look, photographs, ceremony, and such run long you will have the time you need to move onto your next aspect of your wedding without feeling rushed or stressed out. At the end of the day, you can always let your catering staff and DJ know that you are ahead of schedule so they can try to get the food out early and so that you can start your reception a bit early. Or you can take that extra time for you to be a couple and have a few moments together, or spend it with your bridesmaids and groomsman.
Below is an example of a wedding day schedule, but feel free to look up other examples, some brides love to have the details of which bridesmaid is getting her hair and make up done when, and will schedule specific family members at specific times in the photoshoot, while others will just use a general category time (as seen below); both methods are great!
